Review and Improve

What are the results and what do they tell us? How can we improve?

The UTS review framework is based on the quality management cycle of PLAN, DO, REVIEW, IMPROVE and consists of two main components, embedded and thematic reviews, with provision for discretionary reviews to be initiated by the Vice-Chancellor, as deemed appropriate.

Embedded reviews are based on the notion of continuous improvement and are implicit in the PLAN, DO, REVIEW, IMPROVE cycle. Thematic reviews are normally focused on reviewing an issue or activity related to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the University. This form of review should generally be a major component of a broader change management initiative with which the University is involved.

The Governance Support Unit website has a list of main UTS reviews which were undertaken since 2000.

"Closing the loop" has been a focus for the University since 2005. Closing the loop refers to the application of the quality management cycle to all activities, with particular focus on acting on the data and information collected through reviews to achieve continuous improvement.
