UTS homePlanning & Quality

Plan and Do

What is the Plan or approach? Is the plan deployed and if so how effectively?

The Planning and Quality Uni is responsible for the development of the Planning Cycle which supports the implementation of university's Strategic Plan. This Plan is supported by a suite of enabling plans and aligned with Faculty and Unit plans.

Alignment is key to the effective implementation of the strategic planning cycle and the University is now focussed on the effective deployment of the strategic objectives of the strategic plan in all faculty and unit planning cycles.

UTS Setting the Pace 2006 - 2009

In June 2007, UTS Council approved the proposed roll-over of the Strategic Plan 2005-2008 to be the Strategic Plan 2006-2009. The strong performance of UTS over the last few years has confirmed the general directions being pursued by UTS as originally expressed in the Strategic Plan 2005-2008. A review of Setting the Pace and the Strategic Plan has commenced and will be finalised in 2008. This will inform the development of the new UTS Strategic Plan 2009-2012.

UTS Setting the Pace 2005 - 2008
Strategic Directions for the Current Decade and UTS Strategic Plan 2005 - 2008

For the first four-year period of Setting the Pace, UTS developed four Key Strategic Plans 2001 - 2004:- Teaching and Learning, Research and Development, Student Experience and UTS Enterprise Development. The 2001 - 2004 Strategic Plans and Setting the Pace were reviewed towards the end of 2003. More recently the University conducted an assessment of achievements (PDF) (UTS Staff Access Only) against the 2001 - 2004 Strategic Plan and the findings were incorporated into the implementation of the planning process (see also Enabling Plans). Also available is the UTS Strategic Plan Comparison: 2001-2004 and 2005-2008 (DOC) (UTS Staff Access Only).

Following extensive consultation with the University community regarding the process, form and content, the final version of the UTS Strategic Plan 2005 - 2008 was approved by Council at meeting 04/9 held on 15 November 2004.

The Strategic Plan 2005 - 2008 sets priorities for continued augmentation of the initiatives put in place four years ago, as well as other innovation and quality enhancement that will enable progress toward the University described in Setting the Pace.

The combined Setting the Pace (the University's mission, vision and guiding principles statement) and the UTS Strategic Plan for 2005 - 2008 can be found at: UTS Setting the Pace 2005 - 2008 Strategic Directions for the Current Decade (PDF).
