‘Action’ planning 2009; “Plan before you do……..”
Welcome to the action planning site. On this site you will find a number of resources and guidelines to assist you in preparing your local level plans for 2009.
2008 has been a year of change at UTS. We have undertaken a review of our strategic plan, which is currently in draft form and due for finalisation in October. This new plan sets out the strategic directions and priorities for 2009-2013.
To support the implementation of the strategic plan, the Planning and Quality Management Framework (PQMF) is also being reviewed, with improvements and changes to be implemented progressively over the next year.
UTS also undertook the “Academic Structures Review” which, among other things resulted in the creation of two new faculties - Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and the Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) made up of a number of previously existing faculties and institutes.
All of these changes will take some time to ‘bed down”. As a result, we have developed a transitionary action-planning process for 2009, which will focus on the following key elements:
- preliminary review of faculty/unit performance for 2008, highlighting areas of achievement and future focus
- development of Faculty/unit initiatives based on The UTS “Strategic Priorities for 2009” which are aligned with the draft objectives in the new strategic plan.
Based on these requirements your action plan only need be 2-3 pages long, however you may prepare a more comprehensive plan to meet your specific requirements. However, PQU does not require you to submit additional material.
To help finalise the UTS strategic plan to be submitted to Council in October, we request that preliminary action plans be provided to PQU by Wednesday 1st of October 2008, giving PQU and the Senior Executive time to look at the nature and scope of the collective initiatives across the organisation to identify any new ideas that can be fed into the final review of the strategic plan before going to Council. Refined and finalised action plans will be due on Friday 12th of December 2008.
